The best commute games pause gracefully and forgive interruptions. Management sims and gentle adventures shine here because the pacing is yours to set. You can put the phone down, deal with your stop, and pick right back up.

Arcade collections work too, as long as rounds are short. If a single session lasts thirty seconds, missing your stop mid-round costs you nothing. That's why quick-loop games feel so at home on a crowded train.

The one thing I'd avoid is anything with mandatory audio timing. Rhythm games and certain shooters just fall apart when you can't hear them, and forcing headphones on a packed carriage isn't always practical.
