Dust Veil Saga

Dust Veil Saga is one of those RPGs that sneaks up on you. It opens slow, with a wandering merchant and a broken caravan, and before long you're managing a party of misfits across a wind-scoured continent. The turn-based combat is tactical without drowning you in menus, and status effects actually matter.

What kept me hooked was the writing. Side characters have small arcs that pay off hours later, and the game trusts you to piece things together. Save-anywhere support and auto-battle for grind fights mean it fits into a mobile schedule better than most genre entries.
